My copy of The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor arrived today from Amazon and so far it's looking pretty good. If you are not the reading type its also available on audio book, there is a teaser below along with the link. In the Walking Dead universe, there is no greater villain than The Governor. The despot who runs the walled-off town of Woodbury, he has his own sick sense of justice: whether it’s forcing prisoners to battle zombies in an arena for the townspeople’s amusement, or chopping off the appendages of those who cross him. The Governor was voted “Villain of the Year” by Wizard magazine the year he debuted, and his story arc was the most controversial in the history of the Walking Dead comic book series. Now, for the first time, fans of The Walking Dead will discover how The Governor became the man he is, and what drove him to such extremes.
Almost a year ago we told you that the Kickstarter project Red Fog had been fully funded and you maybe wondering where it is in it's development processes. Here is an update from the Red Fog creators Chris Williams and Mike Docherty... What a year! Just 12 months ago, we were in the middle of our pledge drive and unsure if we'd meet our funding goal. Today? We are in full production on our very own zombie graphic novel! How great is that? Mike and I are very thankful for the opportunity YOU provided. It's been a lot of fun and we are well on our way to making a fun comic. Here's the latest: -Chapters One and Two are a lock! It's been an amazing process to see our project evolve from the initial outline to Mike's finished pages. And now that we have added the dialog, it feels like a living breathing comic! Chapter Three is being roughed as we speak, and before the new year, we will be over the halfway point for our project! Excellent! -Renowned artist George Pratt has begun sketching his ideas for our cover. This is particularly exciting and we can't wait to see the end result! George has been kind enough to let us post them here so you can get a first look. What an amazing start! We'll post more as he hones in on the final design. Thank you George!
Anyway, that's all for now. Thanks again everyone. Have a safe and happy holiday season wherever you may be. Don't forget to visit us over at our Facebook page!
All the best! Chris and Mike
The Z plan. We all have one, secret or not. You know you've got one, stashed away there at the back of your mind. You've got your out, your escape route planned. It's cool, me too. That's why we like books like this.
'The Plan' opens on the first day of October, a frenzied phone call taking place between Kasey and her friend Ben. We're quickly looped into their Z-plan, and the fun begins. Basically, Ben just has to get his butt from college in Pennsylvania to Kasey's house. The twosome quickly becomes a sextet and we volley between various POV's telling their story that spans various Eastern states, mainly West Virginia where Kasey's safe house sits among the mountains in the middle of nowhere.
This book has plenty of zombie slaying action scenes, with enough gory details to keep my attention. We don't get bogged down in scientific facts and explanations about how the outbreak starts; we are in the middle of the action right from point and I liked that - it got me hooked. The author, Dulaney, provides enough awesome details to paint a wicked picture of the encroaching apocalypse, and the pacing of the action sequences keep the story entertaining and moving along. We see whole cities on fire; abandoned drug stores; hordes of moaning deadheads closing in, and trapped in cars on the jammed up highways; buzzards circling; running and screaming and Molotov cocktails; blood and guts and torn off faces. There's also this pretty rad scene where Kasey mows down 48 zombies to a soundtrack of Metallica. Amazing! Did I mention the roving band of escaped convicts, who are gathering up all surviving women and killing the men? Yeah, well that sh*t is scarier to me than a zombie apocalypse.
Brad Pitts "World War Z" is to be released December 21, 2012. I say Brad Pitts "World War Z" because he is not only starring in it, he is also producing it (along with Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Colin Wilson) As we reported just the other day World War Z is currently filming in England and will also be filmed in Scotland and Hungary. If you are a zombie fan and you have never heard of World War Z then shame on you and click HERE>>
The Undead Situation is finally here as an audio book, if you don't have the time to read or like listening to books while on the bus you now can. Narrated by Kevin T. Collins it's available at audible.com and amazon.com. The Undead Situation is the first novel by young and up and coming author Eloise J. Knapp. This novel was first self published on Kindle and caught the eye of Permuted Press. The Undead Situation is a zombie genre, apocalyptic tale set in Washington State. It follows a diverse group of damaged survivors whose journey through the zombocalypse proves to take them to their physical and emotional extremes. Each character has their own set of mental "baggage" that shapes their views and reactions to the apocalypse.
It started with a zombie bite, and then it spread. Now the whole country has been over run by zombies, maybe the whole world. What are you going to do? You can't hold out in the basement forever. There is only one thing for it, you will have to become one of them, or at least learn to speak like one of them. How to Speak Zombie: A Guide for the Living will, well help you speak like a zombie. It even has an electronic sound module to help you get those tricky words right, remember, it's "RAHHHhh!" not "Rawr" or "Raaaaah." OK so it's a really silly book complete with kids story book style illustrations, but we liked it and at only $14.95 it will make a great coffee gift. Remember learning zombie is like learning any other language; it just takes time and patience, or you could just get yourself bitten.

There are of course three books in the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies trilogy, Dreadfully Ever After being the third. Now firstly I haven't read the other two books in the series, up until recently Zombiesdrule had a dead-icated book reviewer who would read the zombie novels as and when they got sent to us. Unfortunately said reviewer is no longer with us, so if anyone out there wants to fill the spot please drop me an email ( zombie@zombiesdrule.com). So on with my book review. I was a little concerned about reading Dreadfully Ever After without reading the first two books, but it holds it's own as a novel. It didn't feel like I was missing any back story. I'm also not a huge Pride & Prejudice fan, sure I've read it, I was made to at school, but it's not really my thing. Again that didn't stop me from enjoying Dreadfully Ever After. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was basically Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice with zombies inserted into it, the second and third books are true sequels continuing to expand the character into their own new stories. Dreadfully Ever After opens with our newly married protagonists, Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam Darcy, defending their village from an army of flesh-eating "unmentionables." But the honeymoon has barely begun when poor Mr. Darcy is nipped by a rampaging dreadful. Elizabeth knows the proper course of action is to promptly behead her husband (and then burn the corpse, just to be safe). But when she learns of a miracle antidote under development in London, she realizes there may be one last chance to save her true love—and for everyone to live happily ever after. This so called review really doesn't do the book justice, what I can say is this book is worth the read. It did make me laugh out loud and I really enjoyed the old style illustrations within the book.
Today I'm very pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Eloise J. Knapp are now selling the official t-shirts for her book The Undead Situation. Designed by Eloise these shirts are available in 12 different colours through the zombiesdrule shop, z0mbie-tshirts.com. When the end finally occurred, everything about it was cinematic. The dead came back and ate people, civilization collapsed, and no one could do a thing.
But Cyrus V. Sinclair couldn’t care less, he’s a sociopath. Amidst the chaos, Cyrus sits back and contemplates the gore stained streets and screams of his fellow man with little more emotion than one of the walking corpses. With his cache of guns and MREs, he rather likes the idea of hunkering down in his Seattle apartment while the world ends outside.
All is well and good for Cyrus … until he meets up with Gabe, a belligerent annoyance, and the other inconvenient survivors who cramp his style and force him to re-evaluate his outlook on life.
It’s Armageddon, and things will definitely get messy.
Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion goes on sale today, we don't normally post about books until we have read them but this one looks very interesting and has a good buzz about it. Below is the official blurb on the book, and if you are too lazy to read that there is a video trailer (click the image above), but if you are too lazy to read you probably won't be reading a post about a book... R is a young man with an existential crisis–he is a zombie. He shuffles through an America destroyed by war, social collapse, and the mindless hunger of his undead comrades, but he craves something more than blood and brains. He can speak just a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. He has no memories, noidentity, and no pulse, but he has dreams.
After experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and stragely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend. Julie is a blast of color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that surrounds R. His decision to protect her will transform not only R, but his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world.
Scary, funny, and surprisingly poignant, Warm Bodies is about being alive, being dead, and the blurry line in between.
