"Don't you see? We have to getther the fahgheffaba." Welcome to the experience of watching "Beneath the Surface", where half the movie is guessing what the actor just mumbled. Perhaps a speech coach would of been money well spent on this film. Something to note for the sequel.

"Beneath the Surface" is about a emo goth punk skater, Ethan, who is head over heels in love with his childhood sweet heart, Kahlah, a cheerleader who also happens to enjoy his emo goth punk death metal. The only thing standing in their way is her ultimate douche bag boyfriend, Shane. After Kahlah refuses Shane's sexual advances at his party he proceeds to feed her ecstasy pills in an attempt to lower her guard. Kahlah ends up ODing and Shane claims she did it to herself and that he tried to stop her. Ethan, not believing a word Shane says, tries to expose him by utilizing the voodoo magic he learns from his new neighbour to raise Kahlah from the dead. The rest of the film is Ethan trying to get Kahlah to remember what happened to her in order to nail Shane.

It's very hard to get into a film when you can't understand what's being said a lot of the time. Or when the person talking looks like their a bobble head toy. Or when someone spends an entire 5 minute scene adjusting their tie back and forth, back and forth, back and... But I tried my best and I did find that the plot wasn't terrible. Even if it does resemble that early 90's film "My Boyfriend's Back". It was interesting enough just to keep from not shutting it off and only reviewing the first 30 minutes of the film, that's it. I can't really recommend it to a zombie fan. I can't really recommend it to an independent film fan. There was only one zombie in the entire film and she didn't even bite anyone. She only killed one person, in probably the best scene of the entire film, and spent most of the time getting make overs and pranced around like a puppet. The only reason someone should watch this film is if they're making a database of reviews for zombie films... Wait a minute...
