The "Dance" the title is referring to a high school prom, being from the UK I've never really understood proms. The organizing, the getting dressed up, the King and Queen, the stress of finding someone to go with, and the Zombies.... The Zombies, no one said there would be Zombies! I'm in.

Cosa High is a normal school, in a normal town, with a normal massive green glowing power station which makes normal flesh killing zombies. 
It's that time of year when the kids are preparing for their prom,  the nerds and sci-fi geeks are asking out cheerleaders, who in turn are asking out jocks and punk stars. Unfortunately for them the pollution from the local nuclear power station has started to bring the dead back to life. It seems like this has been going on for a while and the caretaker of the cemetery had things under control, killing the odd zombie here and there ,but on prom night the bodies started leaping out of the graves and heading off back to school.
Lead by the schools football coach, a mixed group of kids (bully, cheerleader, nerds, geeks and punks) fight to get the situation under control.

Now the answer to the question most Zomedey fans will be asking, "Is it as good as Shaun of the Dead"
No, no it's not, but it's not trying to be and it's not aimed at the same audience. 
With good direction and writing this movie hits all the right marks for the young North American audience. Dance of the Dead is a great blend of zombie gore, zombie comedy and characters that you actually end up caring a little bit for. The coach character is hilarious and all the kids (who are played by kids) acting are really good. Mix this in with a high zombie kill count and you know the blood will be flowing, plus it flows with believable zombie and FX.
