ZombiesDrule thinks..This zombie short film makes a refreshing change, shot on a Canon XHA1s Chris Sheffield has packed more gore, gun shots and pace into 9 minuets 52 seconds then some film makers manage in over an hour. Some of the dialogue is a little hard to hear in places, but other than that it's a good example of a good zombie short, especially when you consider it was a low budget - no budget film. It always amazes me how good the effects can get when done on a budget. We have given it 4.5 out of 5, you can watch it right now, just hit the play button. ZombiesDrule "Bite Size" Interview....ZombiesDrule - Your role was? Chris Sheffield - I was the Writer, Director, and Cinematographer . . . aaaand the first on screen zombie boyfriend. How did this film come about? A lot of my friends from film school were churning out really bad youtube quality zombie films, and I've always been a fan, so I wanted to do the genre justice and put out my take on it, without the bad camera work and terrible acting. Where was it filmed? How did you find the cast? Shot on location here in Phoenix, Az. Most of the cast I knew from working on different independent films around Arizona, and I handpicked the ones I knew who could really deliver that intense performance. What were some of the difficulties faced in shooting the movie? We had some issues getting the actors we wanted on the days we wanted, but thankfully the police were cool about us running around all bloodied up. What is next for you? What will your next movie be? I've done a few short films since "Exhale" and I'm getting ready to submit it to some local festivals. My next big series is called "Smooth" and is more a Res Dogs Tarantino style nod than anything. How long do you think it'd take you to turn? It would take a good twenty min or so dependent on how close to death the wound brings me, but once I'm back, I am f*cking BACK! Which do you prefer Fast or Slow Zombies? Honestly I prefer the slow ones, but I chose running for this short since I didn't have a large enough amount of extras or makeup to really make a dangerous horde of slow moving meat chompers, so I had to make the few actors I had dangerous enough to be a threat. What is your weapon of choice for taking on Zombies? I prefer the baseball bat. Lightweight, quick, dangerous but not to those around you, and they're plentiful and easy to find. What is your favorite Zombie Film? I've always been a big fan of the original Dawn of the Dead. Worst Zombie Film? Oh Jesus, there are so many. I used to intern for Brain Damage horror film distributors and there were some serious stinkers in there. Favorite Zombie Book or Game? Absolutely love the Left for Dead series as well as the Resident Evil Franchise (not the movies so much) and we all know MAX BROOKS is the zombie author champ. |
