ZombiesDrule thinks..
Before we start - music videos can be short films, if you disagree then look at Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
I liked this video, it's got a really dark look to it which plays nicely with the sound track. I know this type of music may not be to everyone's taste, it takes me back to my college days, long hair, drinking and rocking out. I also like the way the it opens on an angry looking zombie kid. The only part I didn't really like was the scene when the guy with the beard gets eaten, there is a nasty change in the lighting which popped me out of the story. This is clearly by a directer who knows how to make the best of their time and money, and also knows how to pull favours when they can. |
ZombiesDrule "Bite Size" Interview.....Ani Kyd
Your role was? Writer, Director and Producer. How did this film come about? My good friend of many years is the manager of terminal city studios in Vancouver. Its where everything scary is filmed (Dark Angel,Blade,Fringe,Supernatural etc.) so for years I have been bugging him to use the studio on an off day. In the summer 2010 we finally got a chance to use the studio and the setting is dark and evil so the video needed to be that way also. I have many friends in the special FX world and have been around it for years so I have a love of bloody scary stuff. Zombies are fantastic, they are a glimpse into the afterworld. Everyone wants to be a zombie at least once in their lives...or their death hahahahah! the whole idea came from my twisted brain. What were some of the difficulties faced in shooting the movie? Money is always a factor in indie films. Being the Director and the Producer I had to figure this whole project out. We got the go ahead on the space on Wednesday and we had to shoot on Saturday. So I had to put together a crew, zombies, make up artists, wardrobe, food and wrote a mini zombie movie in 2 days with zero budget. Everyone gave their time and amazing skills to be a part of this project and everyone was so amazing on this. I am super grateful. Where was it filmed? How did you find the cast? Terminal City Film Studios, Vancouver, B.C. - The cast is the band (my band) Fuel Injected.45. Rebecca Lash was the zombie bride. There was about 30 zombies in this film. If you go to our website and see full credits. www.sugarskullfilms.webs.com How long do you think it'd take you to turn? Well you see that would totally depend on the kind of zombie, or the kind of film i was doing ;) What is next for you? What will your next movie be? Right now I am going on tour (Fuel Injected.45) opening up for Jello Biafra. Then in November I will start working on a short film I have written, "I love you, I am the porn queen" . I will also finish writing 2 other scripts. My company Sugar Skull Films shoots music videos for bands too so we will for sure be doing a bunch of that in the new year... hopefully with more dead things ). Which do you prefer Fast or Slow Zombies? Zombies are artists. Fast zombies are good for fast editors and slow zombies are good for suspenseful directors. I think both have their part in this world and I tried to use both in this video. What is your weapon of choice for taking on Zombies? Well a Fuel Injected.45 of course... What is your favourite Zombie Film? Army of Darkness. I love Bruce Campbell. Worst Zombie Film? You see a really bad zombie film can be a really good one too because it can be a fantastic laugh! I honestly appreciate the good and bad. Favourite Zombie Book or Game? I don't read about zombies and I don't play video games. Final Say? I just want to say one last thing here. if you want to make your own zombie movie or any movie for that matter just do it. Everyone says they are going to do it when they have more time or more money or more whatever but really, just sit down and make some time. I have done many things in my life and I never would have if I stopped to notice what I didn't have. |
