ZombieDrule thinks..If I say the words Pet Sematary I can guarantee most of you will think of the film. Before the film came the book, and what a book, scary as hell, but what else would you expect from one of the true masters of horror, Stephen King. It's of course the same plot they used in the movie, but for me a little better. Stephen King has a way of really drawing you in, making you care about the character until the very end, no matter how strange they act or how messed up they get. If you have not seen the movie I would recommend reading the book first. I personally prefer to let my own brain work out what the characters and setting look like, then I watch the movie and see how close we get. When I do it the other way around I can never stop picturing what I have seen on the screen. Does that make sense? I hope so, anyway back to the book... Here is the basic story, and I will try to do this without giving away any big spoilers. The story centers around the Creeds, Louis (Dad) and Rachel (Mum) and their children Ellie and Gage. They have moved to Maine for a fresh start. At the bottom of the garden of their new home is a path, a path that leads to a supernatural Indian burial ground which can work miracles. Louis finds this hard to believe, that is until his daughters cat gets hit by a car. Louis buries the cat, and the next day it's up and walking around again as if nothing has ever happened. Well sort of.... It's not a true zombie movie, you know dead things walking around biting living things, but dead things are walking around and that's close enough for me. If I say anymore I will ruin this amazing book, if you don't mind plots being spoiled then check out the Pet Sematary film review. If you're too lazy to read the book then I would recommend watching the film. Rate: Pet Sematary |
