ZombieDrule thinks..A friend of mine gave me this comic since my birthday is coming up in a few days (hint, hint Zombiesdrule readers). I heard someone mention this comic quite a while back but never gave much thought in reading it, boy was that a bad choice.
Pieces For Mom: A Tale of the Undead is written by Steve Niles & illustrated by Andrew Ritchie. This isn’t your average zombie comic it hits pretty hard. I've got to warn readers it’s a bit twisted I guess you can categorized this as a psychological comic but it still has a lot of very gory blood-shed. It’s a story of a very dysfunctional family, two brothers, both with completely different personalities. The older brother is hot headed & abusive while the younger brother is calm & benevolent. Their mom who after an unfortunate run to gather supplies with their father was bitten by a zombie & turned. The father never returned after gathering the supplies with the mother on that unfaithful nightand the boys never heard from him again. The mother turns into a zombie yet she still keeps her human mind. The brothers can’t bare to kill their mother since she is technically still alive. The brothers spend their time (mainly the younger brother) looking for food to feed their undead mother by finding remains of recently killed people or if necessary murdering someone to feed her. All in all this comic questions the human psyche. What would you be willing to do for someone you love? Can you come to acceptance of letting them go? I truly have no negative comments to say about this comic other than I wish it wasn't a 1 shot comic. Rate: Pieces For Mom: A Tale of the Undead
