ZombieDrule thinks..Ah the 80's. So bad in so many ways. But not this film though it was very enjoyable. Return of the Dead is about a couple of bored employees at a medical supply store. The older employee starts telling him about the craziest thing he's seen while working there. He tells the new guy that the movie "Night of the Living Dead" was based on a true story and that there is a tank in the basement of their store that contains the chemical to bring the dead back to life as well as one of the corpses the reanimated. To prove it to him they go down there and accidentally release the chemical and what happens after that is fairly self explanatory. Zombies, teenagers, over the top characters, boobies. Recipe for success. Cult classic would be the term to best describe this film. Remember this is the movie that's famous for giving zombies their one word vocab...."Braaaaains!" and was good enough to spin off 5 sequels/remakes. What impressed me the most in this film was how scary the main zombie was. He's not someone I would like to meet in an abandoned warehouse. The story was a bit cobbled together, but the acting was decent enough that it didn't bother you. The ending was confusing and weird. It was almost like the studio didn't like the original ending so they slapped together a voice over and reused footage from the film. It was weird. What was also weird was there was female full frontal nudity, well that's not weird, except the girl looked like a Barbie doll. Literally there was nothing down below. It was like someone took an eraser to her "hoohoo". I researched into the film a bit before writing this review and found out that the studio actually thought full frontal nudity would be too much so they made the actress wear a prosthetic over her female hood to make her look like a barbie doll. So you didn't want full frontal so instead of not having the character rip off her clothes and dance for everyone you decided to make her into a weird a-sexual alien creature by removing her genitalia. Studios are funny. Anyways the film is fun and classic so you should stop reading this review and watch it.
