I've been getting a lot of questions about The Walking Dead and how they do the effects.
The zombie make Up stuff is pretty clear, it seems that everyone has seen the time-lapse footage off the bicycle girl. (If you haven't you can see it HERE)
Stargate Studios is handling the other effects on the show.
