ZombiesDrule Reader- What gave you the idea to combine the zombie genre with the slasher genre?
Todd Cook- My favorite films are slasher films and zombie films so I always try to do things nobody has ever done before so there was not much thought to it other than nobody has done it, so I will do it. I am combining chocolate and peanut butter here and so far it tastes great! I hope the audience agrees. The combination has really worked! ZD-What kind of zombies can we expect in the film? Fast, slow, inbred? Todd- My concept on zombies exist is also different (as you will see in the film) but they are fast and aggressive. ZD- What were some of the difficulties faced in shooting the movie ? Todd- The only major difficulty we had was the one of the main actors had an accident and we had to write the rest of the scenes involving that character out of the film, but that is fine because there is so much non-stop action in the film that there is not a lot of dialogue left anyway, so it didn't affect the outcome of the film. ZD- When will this movie be out? Todd- That depends on distribution. Once the film is sold, we have no clue when the distributor will release it. The theatrical premiere is here in Houston, TX on October 15 and is being put on by houstonhorror.com. There may be other theatrical screenings as well. ZD- What's your recipe for edible intestines? Todd- Well, believe it or not, there was no need for completely edible so all latex intestines were used in the film. ZD- What's your weapon of choice for taking on zombies? Todd- Because this is different from other zombies I cannot say specifically what works best, but others in the film use various implements that happen to be on hand or available in the woods. ZD- How long do you think it'd take you to turn? Todd- In Zombiefied it only takes seconds... ZD- What's your Favorite Zombie Movie? Todd- I have several favorites, not one specifically: Dawn of the Dead, City of the Living Dead, The Beyond, Zombi 2, 3 and 4. Pretty much all of Lucio Fulci's zombie movies. ZD- What's your Worst Zombie Movie? Todd- Redneck Zombies. ZD- What's your Which do you prefer, Fast or Slow Zombies? Todd- I prefer whichever is right to tell the story. Romero did it right in Dawn with slow zombies, but many newer films, mine included, use fast moving and that works as well depending on the context. We definitely needed fast for a reason. ZD- What is next for you? What will your next movie be? Todd- Everyone is hammering me about Z2 already...with the first slasher film/zombie film cross-over getting everyone excited, ideas have been flowing for a sequel. So many people are behind this new concept it's exciting...I hope it's just the beginning and maybe a franchise if I am lucky! |
