The best way of review a game is obviously to play it. After talking to the creators of Zombie Mosh I knew gathering a group of people together would not be a problem. It was explained to me that this game was designed with students in mind as a party game. Each game can be finished in 15 minutes, perfect for my friends who all have very short attention spans. I was kindly given a copy of the game to take away, play and review. The first free weekend I had I called around and got a group together, this is what we discovered. You can have up to six players, and each player plays as a zombie. The idea is to be the last zombie standing at the end of each song. As you play you either attack other players and try to knock their limbs off, on defend your own body parts. There are two levels to the game:
The game didn't take long to pick up and learn/teach. We also found that it was much better when playing with 4-6 players. We had fun, but then after we figured out what we were doing we started loosing interest. Too be fair a don't think it was the games fault, we are not really the target group. As we said earlier its designed as a party game for students, so if you add loud rock music and drinking into mix it going to be a different experience. My friends are now at the point in their life where half the people playing were the designated drivers, and the other half are pregnant, so there wasn't much drinking going on. It's a wonder we didn't end up breaking the scrabble board out... To sum up... The thing that gives Zombie Mosh the edge over other games is that its a quick fun game that does not take it's self seriously, and it's very quick to learn. All other zombie based board games that I have seen come with pages of instructions and take at least 2 hours to play, up to 3 weeks and more if you are into role playing. |
